Out of their league (yet close friends)

Just looking back

Ok so last summer i worked in a temping job.

A new girl at work who works with me, says hi near lift at lunch and says hi i will meet you in the canteen if you want. I say cool. She is good at spotting kind guys. So she eats with me and my friend. So we are a group of friends now. Me and leila walk home together as just buddies and talk about the same things.

Now she is on another dept. i try to get my dinners at the same time. This other guy that sits at the computer next to me who knew me longer than her i.e an extra 4 months says after me not wanting to take his lunch, he says "shut up she's out of your league and he continues to read his paper (the sun).

Why would he know she is out of my league, if we are friends then we get on so why would that girl be out of my league. He has never spoken to her.

I just feel a bit weird about that episode that's all.

Q1. If you talk on the same level then why would they be out of your league. Shouldnt it just be a question of - if you are both spending time together at lunch surely you are both in the same league.

LOL sounds like he's just a bit jealous...there is no such thing as a 'league'.

Dude theres no such things as leagues..
continue to meet up if you can and just get to know her more.

Im more curious of why you mentioned why the paper he was reading was the sun, rather than the episode...

leagues are pathetic measures devised by shallow ppl

this whole 'league' thing, is really pathetic... not referring to this post, just general - it is really pathetic... how can u say 'He's out of my league" - I mean in what sense? - in sense of the social class? in sense of education? in sense of his looks? I mean, I really hate when you Brits use this term :P
Ok, and now to the point - I think that he said this, cuz he is interested in her, and he was jelaous that u both spend time together, and by saying what he said he expected you to go away from her, and make some space for him. That's my explanation.

when someone says 'they are out of you're league' it usually means they are far too good looking for you and therefore wont be interested in you. however this has so often been proved to be poo, so go for it

yeah you see ugly blokes with fit women all the time, just go for it!

Thanks, i alway sthought that, but it just came back into my head months after it happened. Obviously she's at uni and i don't know her now but it just made me think about it again and it was bothering me. I like intelligent girls who are honest and care for people like she did so i hope to meet someone like that again and not worry about what he said.
