Speed is what is called a scalar quantity which means it has a size e.g. 12m/s but it has no direction. Velocity is a vector quantity which means it has size and a direction e.g. 12m/s west. Essentially velocity is speed in a given direction. Hope this helps
Want to add with a circular path or one which is curved such as a car turning the velocity is in the direction of travel at a single moment, it will change direction constantly whilst in a curved path and so technically velocity changes.
