Official Chemistry A F324 - Rings,Polymers and Acids June 2016

Here we go! We can discuss exam questions or general content if you need help.

I won't be revising for a while but if I can help, I'll try, means less revision for me in the summer if I help people earlier on (or if people explain to me!)

Ooh great! How far are you in the course?
And what are you grade are you expecting?

Personally I have been trying to accelerate through further maths!

But I have covered all the content in f324 albeit rushed.

But I have properly covered, most of module 1 and carbon nmr!

I need an A*.

What about you?

Good luck, seems like not a lot of people are doing it this year.

I'm aiming for an A grade
But I'm currently focusing more on biology because I'm aiming for an A* in that,
I've covered the content too but need to go over it again to consolidate!
Good luck, to you too!
And let me know how you get on!

Ah nice, good luck

What do you find is the trickiest area?

That's good, have you done any mocks

My mocks are in January!
I really like NMR, but some questions are really nice, however others are really annoyingly horrible and confusing
But I guess f324 organic chemistry overall is quite enjoyable
How about you?

Oh right, the Jan 2010 F324 and specimen are nice papers.

I think June 2015 was very difficult.
NMR is like a jigsaw!

I suppose so, lot more clarity with molecules etc.

Which prep books are using. I have the ocr a official book, cgp and mike smith revision guide

I have the OCR textbook, CGP revision guide
And calculations in chemistry by Jim Clark for the calculations aspect! Accompanied by my teachers notes

I really need to increase my revision time now 😣😣
Also, what are you applying for at university?

Hey, studying this too. Have only covered the first unit and condensation polymerisation. I feel like I'm so far behind:eek::eek:, I basically only started the course in mid-October, because my unit 4 chemistry teacher taught us the wrong things and then he left, so I basically had to be retaught the whole thing:frown:
But I'm aiming for an A to study Chemistry at university anyway

Natural Sciences.

Yes however what I want to do, is do the past papers in timed conditions.

Yourself?

I assume biochem etc.

Ah that is a shame, remember condensation polymerisation is always elimination of the water molecule.

Almost every exam question where it asks you to identify the type of polymerisation is condensation.

Check the OP I will put some good links.

Biomed aha! But I'm planning to change to biochem still not entirely sure!!
Ooh natural sciences at Oxbridge?

Good luck!! Where else have you applied?

Hi guys! How are you finding it? I've just finished this unit and did a mock on it on Friday (June 2015, is it me or was the paper immensely difficult?!)

Oh wow, that's good I have covered a lot of F325 Module 1 too.

Extremely.

That's even better, I've had on-off teachers so I literally had my first lesson on reaction rates so I'm a bit behind, luckily I read ahead a bit

I think born haber and transition metals will have tricky questions this year imo.
