When you dissolve it in water NO2 forms a colourless solution, while bromine forms a brown/red solution. Hope it helps, any queries PM me.

Bromine is easily decolourised by alkenes. Then you can also test bromide ions using silver nitrate - creamy ppt. Nitrogen dioxide will not undergo these tests. It forms nitrates when in solution.

that is not true look on bitesize gcse science it s really detailed and true
