Hi there is a new course at Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) for Psychology Graduates to study an accelerated Msc in Speech and Language therapy.

Im in my final year studying Psychology and want to apply for this course, however, i don't know much about Speech and Language therapy, if it is a good course, if it has good career prospects. Any advice would be much appreciated... thanks

I have to ask, if you don't know much about Speech and Language therapy, how come you want to do an MSc in it? I presume this will lead you to be qualified?

I have only ever worked with two SALTS and I imagine their role is not the norm for most (due to the nature of the setting), but my understanding is that you would:
- Assess speech and language
- Provide specific therapty for those with defects (could be young or older)
- Provide advice on how to support an individual in any setting
- Developing bespoke materials to support the individual

But a lot will depend on the setting, ranging from specialist SALT teams to being part of a wider MDT in an inpatient setting.
