How necessary is Silver DofE for top unis?

Hi, my school, have informed us about the DofE silver and i have already done the bronze. I really wanted to do it but he cost is £250 which i really can't afford :frown: which sucks. Will uni's care alot if i have dofe silver compared to if i did the volunteering, skills physical on my own seeing as I have already dofe bronze.
It's not necessary and its barely useful if you do well academically and have something outside of school.

Zero interest - get good A levels and work experience along with a good strong personal statement. Minted
