International into UK Postgraduate Fees watch

Announcements

    Hi all!

I am an undergraduate student from Pakistan. I have done my bachelor's in computer science. I am
interested in doing my PG from a good university in UK.

    I need following information.

    1) Expenditure.
    2) When can I apply and join?
    3) Can I work on part time basis?
    4) How lucrative is it to do a PG course from a UK Univ?

I want this information at the earliest.

    regards,

    M.Iqbal

    Very constructive.

To the original thread starter, I work with the example of information from the University of Sheffield:

    1) Expenditure:

This can vary per year, dependant on the Master Degree you are intending on taking.

For example Faculty of Engineering at Sheffield, for Overseas rate, is £10,600 for the course fees alone.
Add on to this the cost of accomodation, and living costs, you will be close to £17,000.

    2) Apply through the Post-Graduate Admissions office, at your chosen University. Most taught courses will begin in September, you should apply around 1 year before you intend to join, particularly as an international student, many arrangements will need to be made

    3) You should be able to work between your studies yes. But your work would have to be juggled around the time you spend studying, rather than visa-verca.

    4) Highly, very much dependant on where you go, and how well their computer science department is rated.

From the Guardian league tables for Computer Science:

Universities with Computer Science departments rated 23/25

    University of Cambridge (http://www.cam.ac.uk)
    University of Edinburgh (http://www.edinburgh.ac.uk)
    University of Exeter (http://www.exeter.ac.uk)
    University of Glasgow (http://www.glasgow.ac.uk)
    Imperial College London (http://www.imperial.ac.uk)
University of Kent at Canterbury (http://www.kent.ac.uk)
    University of Manchester (http://www.man.ac.uk)
    University of Oxford (http://www.ox.ac.uk)
    University of Southampton (http://www.soton.ac.uk)
    University of Teesside (http://www.tees.ac.uk)
University of Wales, at Swansea (http://www2.swan.ac.uk)
    University of Warwick (http://www.warwick.ac.uk)
