I know there's one of these for the Univerisity as a whole, but thought i'd make one just for us SenghendyajhbaSJjnjkdfh court wannabes, there seems to be loads of us!

I'm doing Architecture anyway.

Senghennydd  You'll probably only have to master a handful of Welsh words in your entire time here, don't worry. I've also put it as my first choice (doing English Lit and Cultural Criticism), and just got off the phone with the residences office to check that they received my form.

I'll add you to MySpace Minthumbug

I have chosen Senghenndydd Hall ash my first choice, the difference is just that evening meal is included. Lets hope it will be worth that money.

cool stuff.

Has anyone here actually been to see/been inside any of the rooms here? I picked here purely for it's location... hope it's not too shabby! :P

Ahhh, good good people! I'm glad y'all have the sense to see that The Senghetto is by far superior to the Talybronx. Even tho it does resemble a council estate, and (apparently) prison cells are larger than the rooms here, it's still the tops. IMHO I think that my room is rather spacious, so I think that statistic says more about the state of the prison sytem rather than the quality of roomage here. In general they try to keep all flats single sex, xcept where there are people left over, then obs that creates a mixed flat. The evening meal they give (if you choose it) is ****. And the kitchen is rather dinky (I can touch both walls in mine with my fingertips), but still. Don't think you'd get better anywhere else tho. I do have a piccie of my room if I can work out how to add it.

Oh well, apparently the image exceeds the attachment limit for this board. Nehoo, if you want Senghetto pics, just search the groups on facebook, there are a few dedicated to our humble home that have photos of the buildings etc. And another thing- Senghetto is the home of "death corner", so brush up on your car-dodging skills before you get here! It is also the land of puddles on a rainy day. :p:

Tell you what, if I end up sharing a flat with any of you guys, I'll trade you for the kitchen room. I'd love it. 24 hour access to food and no one need know what a big greedy git I am.

I hope i don't get the kitchen room, i'd feel a bit out of it. fair play, the rooms do look like prison cells, but all i've heard is great things about Senghennydd Court so fingers crossed. I'm just a bit worried about what we were told in the Open Day today. A lady said that they choose your accomodation when they get your results, so even if you've sent your accomodation form off ages ago, you could still end up with like your 10th option :s but i'll worry about that once i've found out of i've got into the actual uni..

When it comes to allocating residences, they start doing it on results day, but they process ur forms in the order that u sent them in, so if u got urs in a while ago u'll be fine. Mine was received by them on June 8th last yr, Senghetto was my 2nd choice and I got it. I think a lot of ppl put taly south 1st, and the smaller halls usually fill quickest. Sengy take 600 or so, and with most ppl wanting taly u'll defo get it.

The kitchen room- hmm. Well, cos of fire safety reasons they have a window in the door which u can cover up, and fire doors between the room next to u. Ahh, we have jokes with the fire door in K9...

Oh, and if any of you get K block (best block by far, closly followed by the G-unit), we get loads of fire alarms cos we're right on the end and ppl think it funny to sneak in and set em off. Tho has been quiet since the culprits were caught so y'all shud have no probs.

As long as we don't end up in *that* one with all the girls, I'll be fine. If we end up in a crappy place we can just stay home and catch the bus anyway

Ha, speaking of buses, my dad said if i stay home and get the bus everyday he'll pay for the bus, but i told him it would be cheaper for me to stay in Cardiff. Then i pointed out he could pay for my accomodation instead cos it's cheaper, and he went silent
