Mass spectrometry - finds the mass of molecule/isotope by measuring mass-to-charge ratio.
In OCR Chem A, I think you don't need to know exactly how that happens -

Equations you need to know were:
1) % Abundance of isotope = (height of isotope peak / heights of all peaks on spectra) x 100
2) Mr from mass spectrum = % abundance / 100
like Mr of Mg-25 79% and Mg-24 67% would be [(25 x 79) + (24 x 67)] / 100
