I will go to Glasgow in September to start uni and now I'm about to send off my accomodation application. I was just wondering whether anyone knows how quickly the rooms in the Queen Margaret halls are booked out? I was told that they would be taken pretty early in the year. Does anyone have any experience or information about that?
Phone the accomodation office and ask, only they will know whether QM is full. It always fills up first, as it is the nicest accomodation the uni offers, but it has been said that it's a little anti-social.
OK thanks! I could still put it as my choice of preference and then chose another one if it's full already. Is there any residence which is said to be nice and social, or generally popular?
I was told Wolfson was the most social of all the halls. I can tell you now that's a load of bull****. I've never met a bigger bunch of bitchy, back-stabbing a***holes in all my life. Although, that could just be this year, I'm not saying next year'll be the same.
I'd personally choose Murano if I was to stay in halls again. The flats are pretty decent and everyone seems to know just about everybody else up there.
Is it not done in terms of what type of offer you have i.e. applicants who have firmly accepted an unconditional will be given priority over those who have a conditional
I got rejected for all accommodation. I emailed them to ask if I was supposed to have some kind of correspondence back from the accommodation form, and they came back saying they can't offer me ANYTHING. So I'm screwed. Does it make a difference if you have a conditional/unconditional offer??
Ive applied for QM but as my 2nd choice...I've got a feeling they'll put me into Kelvinhaugh Gate (my 1st) or Lister House (my 3rd). I'd be happy with those too, so maybe if I get a place at QM and someone else really wants it they can have mine??
Edit: believe it or not graeme, "too" and "two" are entirely seperate words.

Would that even work?? It's nice to offer it...but don't know if that would work...?
I'm all for wolfson, it was the best place to be by far, I'd highly recommend it. But saying that, I get on with everyone I have been to quite a few halls in murano where the flatmates really didn't get on, and met loads of people who felt excluded. The best thing about wolfson is you don't have to put up with that (even if it is a good life-skill, who can be bothered??).
