J.A.M’s Ltd is a partnership based in Bradford,manufacturing electrical hair and beauty products. The firm has been inexistence for 23 years and the three partners, Jenny, Aishah and Maddy haveseveral outstanding debts due to suppliers and the bank. Aishah decides thatshe no longer wants to work for the firm and gives notice of her retirement toher fellow partners. However two days prior, Aishah signed a contract topurchase some machinery from Akaash Ltd for £10, 000, without consulting eitherJenny or Maddy. She had also borrowed £4000 from her friend Tom to buy stockfor the firm, but only spent £3000 on actual stock and decided to buy a TV forthe remaining £1000. The TV was placed at the firm and was used by all threepartners yet no questions had been asked as to the purchase of it. A weeklater, Aishah leaves the firm and Jenny and Maddy receive an invoice fromAkaash Ltd for £10,000. As Tom has not heard from Aishah for weeks he approachesher in the hope Aishah will repay the money she borrowed from him. Aishahinforms Tom that she has left the firm and he will need to go and discussrepayment with Jenny and Maddy and points out that as the money was used forthe firm, the remaining partners would pay.
