There is nothing wrong with generalizations

Every time a generalization is made on this site, people lose their minds. Even when it's statistical evidence that shows a general trend among a demographic, people will still be spouting "OMG that's a generalization", as if it isn't absolutely clear that that is exactly what it is.

That's the thing with generalizations; they're general. If I find a statistic that shows most Xs believe Y, it's not saying every X believes Y, it's saying that generally, Xs do believe Y. There is no need to say "OMG it's a generalization", because clearly that is exactly what it is. The fact it's a generalization doesn't make it invalid. The fact that it is generally true is what is so important.
