Do any of said companies have a plan where you get unlimited minutes per month by paying a flat rate? I'm not going to have a landline phone; my cell, once I get it, will be my only phone so I kind of need unlimited.
Yep, I'm on O2, never had any problems getting a signal, no matter where in town I am. I have a friend on Virgin who has a lot of trouble getting a signal. Orange seems to be okay too. I don't know about 3, T Mobile or Vodaphone.
I never have any problems on Virgin. I get full signal for most of campus, over in PJM and town. I know several people who can't get any signal in PJM, which must be a right nuisance. The only place I've ever had any difficulty is Old College which is easily resolved by going outside.
T-Mobile and Virgin are the same thing (Virgin is a 'virtual' network on T-mobile). I've not had a problem with either that wasn't due to the phone itself.

Well to get unlimited you will be happy a lot but many networks offer packages often with a few phone say 500 minutes and 100 texts for £30 a month but that's just an example.
Oh well I'm thinking about 3 I know they aren't the best network but they are cheap...
I've got an Orange contract so I'm pleased with that as it's been a bit hit in miss in other parts of Wales which you would think would have good coverage.
Don't know about signal but I'd recommend T-mobile flext to everyone.£25 a month gets me £90 of credit for calls, texts and picture messages.my brothers on £30 or £35 T-mobile flext and he gets £150 of credit a month
02 is awful in Cwrt Mawr. I rarely have more than one bar, and it's always saying "network unavailable". It seems to be ok in the rest of the town, though.
I Wasn't really paying that much attention but my T-mobile phone seemed to have signal all over town. And I was calling people on campus, but I didn't take the tour of PJM
