Scars on Arms

Firstly, im 18 years old and have had scars on my arms from a young age. If I ever had a scab, i would pick at it constantly when i was younger. Anyway, I visited the doctor a couple of years ago and his explanation for the scars still being visible was that i had iron deficiency. So i took the tablets, have applied bio-oil as well but still they are very visible. Its quite bad for my self esteem as I never wear t-shirts in the summer and it's been like this for many years now. Its really putting me down ...so does have any suggestions?

Hey,
Im sorry to hear about that.
I have iron deficieny too!
But anyway I have a couple of scars and I found that bio oil didnt work for me either, so someone recommeded vitimin E oil, so I got some of that, and it is working, although it does take time. Im not sure of anything else you could use.
You can get Vit E oil in The Body shop, not sure where else you can get it.
I hope that helps.
I have arms covered in scars... but mine are my own stupid fault if you catch my drift. Vit E is usually the best thing to try but really, although this is a hard thing to do, don't worry. Who cares if you've got scars? For years I sweated under long sleeves until I decided that I really didn't care if people saw. Its part of you and you're not going to change it so might as well accept it.

Try going out in a tshirt and keep a jumper in your bag. See how long you can go for without needing to put the jumper on. You will probably feel self-conscious but you'll also notice that people don't notice. People don't care.

I get comments occasionally - I shrug them off. No one needs to know. Be proud of who you are.

I find cocoa butter is very helpful for blending scars, stretchmarks etc, and I think you can get cocoa butter with vitamin E in.
Hey could someone name the cocoa butter with vitE product so I know what to specifically look for. Thanks

I think palmers do a cocoa butter with vit e in...but they might not. Supposadly the neatest vit e to put on is in capsules, you cut it open and put it on the skin!
Palmers do a scar serum...dont waste your money on it. Its stinks, is sticky...and after 6 months there was no more improvement than I would have expected in that time using nothing!
The 'scars visible due to irondeficiency anaemia sounds like rubbish to me, but the advice given about Vitamin E creams (people i know rave about 'Emu oil') does work to take away some of the 'redness' around scars.

However, the very definition of a scar is its not normal skin, so will often always be visible.
Some things can make scars more visible. I find that my scars show up more when i am too hot/cold and also when i am more tanned than usual. Getting vitamin e capsules and breaking the contents onto the skin is probably the best trick i know though.

Good luck

so basically...vitamin e capsules and palmers cocoa butter with vitamin E appears to be the best option..kwl
Arnica gel works quite well too...

Alternatively you can get dermablend make-up on prescription. Its very thick and works well on most scars.
