We're 9 points off the top. Imagine we had sacked LVG like when we should have and won all those games we should have won during that terrible december period.

Too late to sack him now though.

An equivalent Chelsea fan:

If only we had sacked Mourinho when we should have (two games into the season). We would have ran away with the league.

The funny thing is that it actually is. Expecting the board to fire a manager just before things turn sour. They don't have Trelawney's mind ffs.

I'm assuming he meant after the Norwich game (though in my mind he should've gone after the PSV draw), and it wouldn't be unreasonable to assume we'd be at least 5 points better off at this stage (wins against Newcastle and Chelsea (lol) and a draw at Stoke). If he meant just before the ****e run started then yeah I agree with you.

He's never been a very good player at United.

He was a nuisance for teams for like 3 games when we decided to base our entire attack around him. Then teams starting man-marking him and we were back to square one.

He's an impact player, nothing else.
He was great for more than a handful of games and good for another half dozen or so more. Even then, people are saying he's been poor his entire career, which is blatantly untrue.

Chelsea are only 8 points behind us now. They'll finish above us

Nah I've just been crying about how we only seem to play well against good teams.
Like what kind of backwards mentality is that?

It's good to see the guys pumped up for the big games, but you need consistency and you'll never make top 4 if you can't be a bit of a flat track bully.

Not looking forward to the next game. DDG will be the difference like he always is.

It doesn't cover this window, so hopefully we're not truly ****ed mid season with some kind of buyout clause.

Will be interesting with the Euro's this summer though. Real tend to love sweeping up the stand outs from international competitions.

Real are just going to appeal the ban and get the summer like Barcelona did so if they want our players they'll get them if we are willing to sell to them. Plus anyway Barcelona were still able to sign players, they just couldn't use them until January.

Will probably appeal and then spend 200-300mil to cover their ban period.

Yea but Vidal and Turan were only unable to play for half a season (since Barca signed halfway through their ban). Real's ban would only just start which would mean a season or more of not playing.

Wonder if Real can buy and then loan away those players?

Madrid's ban has happened in January so not sure if an appeal will give them leeway until the end of the summer. Imagine De Gea is slightly worried as he expected this year to be a final one before a summer move.

In other news, Times reporting LVG could be sacked if defeat occurs on Sunday which puts doubt on their CL qualification which IMO, is the only parameter that Woodward will judge LVG on. But if he was, and Giggs was given the reins, it'd be the test for him to make sure United reach top four. If he does it, he has a bigger chance and fans' clamour behind him to get the job; if he doesn't has a negative effect on him being more permanent as manager. His four games in 13/14 can't be taken too much into consideration - least this would give him a tangible target to use whatever he has learned into a practical situation.

Barca appealled that ban in August and it was rejected in Dec. If this proceeds in a similar fashion that won't work. Their appeal would be overturned before the window opened.

EDIT: Aug not Sept. So perhaps could work but would require swift business I guess. We'll know soon as they have 3 days to lodge an appeal.

But on balance that game had one well worked free kick, a silly pen, a ridiculous overhead kick, and Martial. It was a far closer game than the scoreline and general feeling suggested. Bit worried LVG will repeat the Arsenal game of earlier in the season.
