For my school, the 6th form applications aren't due in till mid February (10-13/2/15) yet my parents are insistent that they hand it in by the end of this week (18/12/15) while i'm trying to argue that it's better to wait over the holidays and hand it in on 4/1/16.

Is there any difference or disadvantages of handing it in 2 months early rather than 1 month early?

Only one I can think of is that someone rushes it and at some point after the deadline wants to change it since they didn't think their subject choices through and then there's a mess in changing it. Don't see an issue if you know what you want to do.

No, there aren't any disadvantages as many people will be handing in their application forms and spaces will go quickly so handing it in early is better as it gives you a bigger chance at being accepted. They will most probably be looking at application forms in the order of when they arrive.
