Yes go gym
Original post by Coollad1999
I'm not overweight but I am quite skinny and pretty weak. I need to mainly improve arms (bicep curls), my core/abs (don't know what exercise to do) and fitness (with the rowing machine).

So how long should I spend per week at the gym? I can't spend more than four hours a week unfortunately.

you need motivation . going to gym is not a easy task. try law of attraction. it always helps.

3 days a week. Push, pull, legs split.
Start off with a home body weight workout, there's hundreds off exercises (press ups, pull ups and sit ups are king) you can do with no equipment. If you stick with exercising then join a gym after six weeks.

You're not going to notice any strength gains without a proper diet though so make sure to get plenty of scran down you

. I don't undertand
You could choose to start with a 30 day challenge to improve strength - e.g push ups or something, then gradually do more as your strength improves and it is worth actually going to the gym. Also - rowing machines aren't supposed to exercise your arms if you do it properly

Go onto the fitness forum and have a look at the FAQs, they should answer most of the question you have. If you're still not sure post in the fitness section you'll get more and better replies there.

Also going to the gym is practically useless if you're not in-taking adequate protein, you need protein in you to build muscle.
Try first to do calisthenics's, as it's a great foundation in general for fitness. It will help with core muscles, some exercises are: Plank, Russian twists, ab crunches, leg raises. Though for arms you will most probably need to use weights as the only possible calisthenics's exercises you could do are chin ups and push ups. For legs you will 100% need to do weights as squats and lunges become quickly not enough to build muscle and strength.

Four hours is more than enough. You could go 2-4 times a week to the gym. Try doing fully body as it is quite good for beginners. Do a bit of cardio as it is just good in general and can actually improve muscle gains, do it on separate days from weightlifting/body training days, or after workout.
