New figurine - Hato Kenjirou from Genshiken Nidaime.

3D is not as good as 2D anime but still great. You're watching on your TV.. Woo.

I only have 5'1 inch screen. Ehe.

I've had Evangelion 3.33 on BR for almost a month now without watching it, so started over with 1.11 at the weekend. It's been so long I thought Rei Ayanami was Rei Ikari when adding a character on Tomodachi life last week.

Today I started reading the Evangelion manga too, having got a few volumes in years ago. It was one of the first series I started collecting, volumes 1 and 3 are even flipped, but I put off reading unfinished stuff, and Evangelion was a slow burner.

It was today I realised I don't think I've watched the TV show since a weekend screening at University in 2007. While reading the first volume of the manga I was miffed to realise I went through all of 2015 without realising it was Eva year, both for setting and 20th anniversary.

As usual, now that we're nearing the middle of the anime season, I'm thinking of dropping one or two Spring shows that I'm watching, and giving second chances to some of the ones I skipped instead.

Here's everything that's on my list at the moment. The ones I was thinking of checking out again are Boku no Hero Academia, Kuromukuro, Hundred and Seisen Cerberus, so I'd be interested to hear other people's thoughts on them so far. Or, if you want to make a strong case for any other Spring series, I'll take them into consideration as well.

Following on from this, I've now watched 5-6 episodes of these four series. My thoughts:

Boku no Hero Academia - Still isn't doing much for me. The pacing is really slow, characters aren't the most interesting (aside from All Might, he's great), and it feels underwhelming compared with recent superhero show One Punch Man. Might turn out to be a good show eventually, but I don't think I have the patience to watch this weekly.

Kuromukuro - This one, I like. Great action and animation, even if the mechs do look a bit clunky compared with those of Macross and Gundam, and the more lighthearted/comedy moments are good too; seeing Kennosuke react to modern civilization and technology never gets old.

Hundred - Definitely dropped. Plot-wise, there's potential, but the male lead can't go a single episode without accidentally falling on top of one or more of the many haremettes (who are all too busy fighting for his affection to show any sort of personality).

Seisen Cerberus - This is BAD. Probably on par with Endride, in terms of plot and pacing... but while Endride bored me stiff, Cerberus is at least entertaining, thanks to its characters. Hiiro is one of the most woefully incompetent protagonists I've ever seen, Saraato is quirky and mysterious, Erin is a catgirl (which is more than enough). Premium guilty pleasure material.

So in all likelihood it'll be Kuromukuro that makes my lineup, unless today's 6th episode screws things up somehow, in which case I'll just replace one bad fantasy series with another. :p:

Hey, did you have read the plot about Getter Robo yet? it is a robot anime from 70s again, but sometimes - as in this case - I am so astonished what ideas some directors got to make an anime to a unique. The Dinosaur part is just crazy. I guess even I am getting high, I would not have such an idea for plots. Seriously what kinds of durgs they have done to that decade?

It is so weird that most of those animes have nice soundtracks to listen to.

I'm well aware of Getter Robo, and other super robot franchises created by or involving Go Nagai. I haven't watched the original series though, for a long time the only subtitles out there were nonsensical pirated Chinese translations, but it looks like the series was fully translated earlier this year!

Anime that I have watched from the franchise include 2004's Shin Getter Robo, and a few crossover movies (Great Mazinger vs Getter Robo, Great Mazinger vs Getter Robo G: The Great Space Encounter & Grendizer, Getter Robo G, Great Mazinger: Kessen! Daikaijuu!). They were all good fun, and I agree that the music is brilliant!

I see, you reallly are. Great Maizinger? is that not another name for Goldrake? it sounds so familar to me. So, you like Getter Robo's plot?

I looked it up, apparently Goldrake is the European name for UFO Robo Grendizer, another series from the same creator as Mazinger.

The plot for Getter Robo is quite basic (combining mech vs monster of the week battles), but I like the main characters in their original manga/2004 series forms. Rather than the usual good-guy heroes, they're quite horrible and violent themselves, which made them stand out for me. They were made a bit more child-friendly in the 1975 anime, though.

Yes. If you'd asked me what I thought about it last week, my reaction would have been largely negative - less 'horror' and more 'weird things happening for the sake of it', and the large cast meant there had been limited character development. Episode 6 started to address some of my issues though, so I'm hoping it continues like that.

I understand you. Anti-heroes are always better than the 'good-guy' ones, just because firstly they are more interesting anyway and secondly they are more individual what makes it easier to identificate with them.

By the way have you ever listened to the opening of getta robo, with Isao Sasaki as singer?

Yo People  it has been a while haha. After being on a bit of a anime spree I remembered about here. Hope all you guys have been doing good.

But onto what I have been watching. I finished off watching Heavy Object the other day. It was okay. Nothing really special but it was decent to have on while I did some level grinding in games. Next I watched both the Little Witch academy things. They were rather good and I loved the art style of them both. Now currently I am watching Pycho-Pass which I have been meaning to watch for ages. Safe to say i am loving it. I always like anime with darker tones and have a love for sci-fi to. So it hits two of my favorite things :P. Really interested in how it ends as I am currently on episode 17.

Other than that I have been waiting for the next Persona 3 movie. I will see it at some point haha. I have been meaning to watch more anime. But I have been on a JRPG binge thanks to loads of them being released on steam. I swear I have replayed final fantasy 5-10 over the last few months. Then add in 2 Trails of the Sky's games and Tales of Zestria haha, And this is all to keep me calm as I wait for Persona 5......

No, if anything it's too fast-paced, but early episodes were focused far more on making the setting as creepy as possible, while leaving the characters so undeveloped that I didn't really care what happened to them. It's getting better now though, in my opinion at least.

So far im watching:

Boku no hero
Kabaneri of the iron fortress
Zero kara hajimery isekai seikat
Kiznaiver
Bungou Stray dogs
One piece for the last 4/5 years.

They're all pretty good. Exlucding One piece , the top three written are this season's best imo. Although the pacing is quite slow :frown:
I am just looking for Lupin III merchandise, oh my god, there are even plush toys on offer! there are a lot of DVDs, that is good. Can't wait to buy some films about the grandson of Arsene Lupin. :h:

I have been distracted with work stuff for ages. But I have been going on a bit of a anime spree lately which reminded me of you guys. So I came crawling back haha.

How have things been any way . I haven't really talked to anyone from here in ages. I kind of lost track of a lot of people after msn got eaten by skype.

How is Lupin III out of interest? I have been meaning to watch it for a while. I have a bit of a interest in Arsene Lupin as a game I looking forward to has a reference of sorts to the character

I'm fine, thanks! Life is good, anime is good, and I got made a moderator. :proud: The society has seen more active days though, I can't remember exactly who was around the same time as you were, but aside from the occasional short visit from caraniel, Aiko, vin, truered etc, I'm the only oldie still active. :sadnod:

Ask the same question after one and a half hour when I have watched a film about this anime. Without a doubt, Lupin III has a lot of merchandise, even games.

Is there an actual anime with regards to my avatar? I've always been curious and if not, what about something similar to vampire/dark theme horror one? That'd be fantastic.

Thanks!
