Just say you can't go due to a prior arrangement or make up a crisis on the night or just feign an illness on the night, lying is easy!
However, surely not drinking wouldn't be too much of an issue? I doubt everyone else there will be getting THAT drunk if its a meal and the 'lads' can't force you to get drunk.

You have to get used to saying 'no.' Outside school, plenty of people will try and do this to you when you least expect it. Just say no if they ask you.

Yea say you've already made arrangements like a birthday or a meal with your family or something. Or on the night say you're too ill or something. I hate saying no as well so don't worry, you're not alone.

You ought to go and start learning to be in a social environment without drinking. If you don't you will find yourself in a great many similar situations as you get older and it's better that you learn lessons such as these early.

If you don't wish to drink then don't, say it firmly if people insist. A guy I once hung out with a few times was tee-total said to me that he didn't need to drink to enjoy himself as much as everyone else, which was totally true, he was outgoing and interesting to talk to. He also used to order really flamboyant fruit cocktails, think Del Boy without the alcohol, which used to draw attention to the fact that he was still interacting and having fun without alcohol.

You should go for it, and make people wish they were half as cool as you were even with after a drink for confidence.

Just go and don't drink!!!

I go out and don't drink most of the time, why feel pressurised. Those who have to have a drink to have fun usually have the least fun!

i often go out and don't drink if i don't have any money or just plain don't fancy alcohol. I don't consider myself to be tee-total, i drink when i want to drink - it just so happens that i don't usually feel like drinking!

no one actually cares. In fact, i bet most people don't even notice and if they do they only notice in passing.

it's not exactly hard to drink, they're not going to think you're defective if you don't like pouring a certain type of liquid down your throat. Don't let it get in the way of having a good time.

and if not drinking is such an issue to you that you'd let it stop you from socialising, why on earth don't you just drink a bit?!

Hi there, our chemistry group are going to go for a chem meal out soon. Basically I dont want to go because everyone drinks and I dont. Plus the lads wil try and get me pissed too which I dont want. Any ideas on how to get out of it please?

You shouldn't let other people's drinking put you off going. You should be able to go out with friends, even if you don't drink, and enjoy yourself. Even if you were to go, you don't have to drink, even if your friends ask you to. You just have to refuse and drink whatever it is you fancy. Don't let them bully you into drinking.

If you really don't want to go, just say that something has come up or that you have have a prior engagement.

Who says you have to go . . if you don't want to go . . don't go. .it can't be forced onto you
I can't imagine you'd be the only one not drinking because there are always people driving. In fact, if you're embarrassed you could say you're driving? But there is no need to be embarrassed anyway, lots of people don't drink and still have a great time!
I wouldnt worry about not drinking. I mean, I doubt it will be that wild..... its a chemistry meal...
Just go and don't drink... if you don't want to just say that, then make up an excuse about being on antibiotics and not wanting to mix them, or that you've got an early start and don't want a hangover?

Do you like going out with them in the first place?

If you can't cope socialising with drinkers then life is gunna suck...
The thing is if I dont go I wil lget called unsociable etc. Hence I need a good excuse. I cant use the antibiotic one as people know I don't drink. Plus the lad who doesnt know I dont drink said to me, I just want to see you pissed.

because the gross majority of people drink, especially when going out for a meal or going out at night.

if your just not going to socialise with anyone who drinks your life will suck because friends of friends will. Its such a sad point of view to take
