... You can tell a child about the death of a close relative?

Because my parents have decided to not tell my 11 year old sibling..

Depends on the maturity of the child. Depends on how close the relative is.

I don't think any age is too young, I was always told if a relative died.

I think by refraining from telling the child, you create this idea (when they find out later) that death is a taboo thing for younger kids, when they should be realising that it just happens, and they must learn to sometimes cope with it

So basically whenever they can understand what you're saying

I don't think there's a specific age really. From very young we know that death occurs, I was always told. Just maybe looking at how one might go about telling them is different.

I had a parent die younger than that and anyone I ve known has been told of deaths at 11 so I think your sibling should be told really.

Id tell them at any age, but the way I would tell them would differ.

If it was like a young child, like a 3yr old, I'll tell them they're in the sky or something

If it was an older kid, like a 10yr old, I'd tell them they've gone to heaven

Any older than that, I'd say they passed away

Any age. Don't bring a child up in an artificial environment.

My dad's grandmother died when he was 8, he didn't really understand it or process it so didn't feel much grief. I suppose that's good in a way.

I was told abouy my grandad dying when I was five. It's a normal part of life, and keeping it from anyone is unhealthy.

Bit unfair and strange not to tell them. Of course, the way you tell them matters depending on age.

if they're like 5 then do what tht other guy said nd say theyve gone to the clouds or summat
when i was 9 my grandad died nd my parents told me, honestly it's better to tell than to keep it secret cus yohave more time to get over it and you also avoid the whole "how could u not tell me??!!!" shizz later
