Receptor expression

This is a really stupid question but it's something I don't fully understand.

What does expression mean in relation to a receptor?.

Expression of a receptor could mean a few things. The majority (if not all) receptors are proteins, meaning they are translated and processed inside the cell by reading the DNA and converting the code into a protein. So the first assumption I would look at is the upregulation of transcribing DNA, followed by translation to produce more receptor molecules.

One example would be lack of available glucose in cells. They would then upregulate expression of GLUT transporters in order to get more glucose from the blood into the cells.
