Why are some pakistani's so white (as in colour)?

Sometimes when I meet new people at uni the question what race are you comes along and I find quite white skinned girls are Pakistani? It's very clear white skin?

You know what's up. So many pakistanis in my old school used to compared themselves when in fact they were all pretty dark lol. All the dudes I knew wanted very white Indian/Pakistani girls when they were dark themselves lol.

Is it something to do with the workers being outside and getting tanned hard, whilst the rich stayed in and got an indoor tan and therefore stayed really pale?

I'm not Pakistani, but I know for fijians everyone wants to compete against each other with skin colour and see who has the lightest skin, i see it as them being ashamed to be the colour they are and that's purely influenced by the ****ty sort of things they see on social media. dumb #teamlightskin / teamdarkskin. It's just stupid, i remember one time my cousin came up to me, pulled my arm up and was like "hahah im lighter than you" and I was like okay. honest don't see what they think is wrong with having dark skin???

Many Pakistanis have origins from neighboring countries such as from western Iran and even Afghanistan. A common race in Pakistan that originated from Afghanistan is the pashtun race and I know many Pakistanis who claim they are part or full pashtun.
Most famous Pakistani of pashtun descent is Imran Khan
