It's TeeEm, how could you expect anything other than maths?

0 "multiplied" by infinity can be any number ( including not defined )
so 1 is possible ....
TeeEm's love of maths is contagious. I love seeing threads like these :smile:

It is a rather complex proof (please don't ask for it because I only vaguely grasp the idea), but it basically takes the idea of dividing 1 by a tiny number to get a huge number. From there it's a simple triangle

You mean really small right?

I assume it's something to do with limits?
The limit of 1/x as x --> 0 is infinity.... or something like that.

Yeah, made a slight boo boo - see the edit:tongue:

1o=    1=0=0+0+...+0\dfrac {1}{o} = \infty \implies 1 = 0*\infty = 0 + 0 + ... + 0

:P

Though I suspect the different cardinalities of infinite sets makes it a complicated - countable, uncountable, forgotten the name for them (Aleph Null, Aleph One, Aleph Two maybe?)

Yes, people make the mistake of saying well, lets try some some very small number (x) in my calculator.
Oh, 1 over x is very large!
So 1/o must be infinity!

Limits should be taught at least a little at Sixth Form... I quite enjoy the ones I find in STEP and IB papers

P.S. surely whether it tends to zero from + or - direction makes a little difference? :P
