Alkali is a base dissolved in water, a proton acceptor, releases OH- ions in solution.

If you react something and it has a higher atom economy,
-Less product is wasted, save money
-More efficient
-Use fewer natural resources, more environmentally friendly
-Can save fossil fuels (use less energy from burning them)

Hope this helps

A Base is a substance can be used to neutralise an acid.

An alkali is a "special" type of base which dissolves in water.

All alkali are bases but not all bases are alkali because not all bases dissolve in water.
