Restoring part of your tooth?

Hey, this morning during work one of my friends told me that there is something wrong with my teeth (didn't explain what it was) when I was talking to her. So I rushed to the mirror to see that a chunk of enamel has suddenly gone in the bottom half of one of my front tooth (you can see that that the top half is thicker), whilst the rest of my teeth is perfectly fine. I think it may either happened from a knock which I took recently in football or the rather big intake in sugar during the Easter holidays. I was wondering well if the dentist could fix it otherwise it may get worse and how much it would cost? I just booked to see my dentist today but have to wait 3 weeks.....

One of my teeth developed without a proper enamel layer and my dentist managed to sort it out relitavely easily.

It is easy for a dentist to build your tooth up for you. or you could have the option of crown, veneer but they will probs built it up to begin with

Bah, The exact same thing happened me! My dentist told me he couldn't fill up the gap though because it'd probably come back off considering where it is.. But that's just his opinion.

Once part of my front tooth came off from top to bottom after only a small knock. The dentist can fix it - worry not!

Thanks, if I am right you told me on a previous thread that you are a dental nurse (I think) I was wonderin gif you may know the price of having it fixed?
I Had mine bulit back up the other day (basically they just stuck some stuff on there to build it up) I ended up going private as I don’t have a NHS denisit. It took 20 mins, didn’t hurt a bit and ended up costiing £55.50 which is quite good, as I know it costs £40 on the NHS

My local dentist has recently opted out of the NHS so I have to pay private prices.

I'm sure they can fix it but they won't necessarily want to do it. If it's not posing a problem then it'll be up to you if you have anything done about it. I broke part of my tooth but it hasn't been painful so my dentist said it was best to leave it (he doesn't ever do any work unless he thinks it's necessary). The more you mess about with teeth the more likely they are to fall apart (I broke part of one that had been filled which had obviously weakened it).

In short, I'm sure they'll be able to mend it but if it's not annoying you or hurting then it might not be necessary.

ive lost two parts of two teeth from footballing injuries (shouldn't be a goalkeeper).. one of them i had a crown fitted and the other was just built up and has been fine since...

the dentist wil probs just stick a protective coating over it and nothing more.. so just get it checked out!

it depends on the size of the restoration there are 3 prices for that kind of restoration, but depends if you are nhs or private- private prices range from £30-£50 and nhs would probably only be like £14.90 or similar

for one small restoration it shouldnt have cost that much - if you wanted a crown or veneer it would cost ruffly that much
