For those who have seen the series or heard of it, what is your opinion on it? I've just seen the trailer for the new series which sparked my curiosity.

I have seen a view that some viewers feel that the series is exploiting the issues that these people face. In particular the ones who have learning difficulties, feeling that they don't really know what is going on and that it's not fair on them to be on the show.

Didn't they have these sort of things in the Victorian times? They called them sideshows.

The shows trying to help them get dates and it shows the struggles of dating when you have a condition like those on the show. It does result in some funny moments but not in the way like "haha look at that downie" but more in a sweet "haha aw bless em" way. The lad who had tourettes and kept saying "I LOVE YOUR TITS" that was hilarious. You know they don't pick people to film they have people come to them to be filmed

It's horrendously exploitative. It relies on finding the people who are closest to the stereotype of a certain condition, disorder or disability without dealing with the fact that no everyone within that group has the same struggles and experiences the same things. It also ignores that many people in many of these groups are in happy relationships if they want to be and that it shouldn't be seen as unusual or unexpected for a disabled person to be a relationship if that is what they desire.

Sean Connery is great in it, but the court room scene at the end where they finally get Al Capone is kind of a cop out.

EDIT: Never mind, I was thinking of The Untouchables.

It's reality TV *******s that's exploitative, there's practically nothing to like about it unless you enjoy a good chuckle at the expense of those who are in a less fortunate situation than yourself.

Really hate it...

I kinda know someone who was asked to be on it (Lex Harford, she has a huge birthmark across her face as well as heterochromia iridum) - and she took personal offence from it. She was across a lot of news websites a few weeks back after the whole thing.
