If you want to read the bible, start with the New Testament as it's more relatable to today's teachings.

Start with the New Testament - one of the Gospels (the first four books) in a modern translation such as NIV or a less formal version such as The Message.

Christian's mostly reference the New Testament.

The bible consists of two sections, The Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old is that of the time before Jesus and the New is the time he lived and died.

If your going to use it for Dawah I recommend the New Testament. (Marks Gospel, the Parable of the Sower could be a good one to talk about)
