Heat rash?

I've been out enjoying the sun quite a bit recently (as I hope everyone else has!), and a couple of days ago my upper chest (between my shoulder blades and the top of my cleavage) began to itch and was looking quite red with raised bumps. I just assumed it was minor heat rash, put on some calamine lotion to calm the itching and tried not to scratch.

But 3 days later it's still there, the redness has gone down but I can still feel the bumps and MAN it itches.

Any ideas what I can do to calm the itching other than calamine? I don't want to have to cover it with clothes all the time because I've got pinky-white lotion there, and I think covering it is meant to make it worse. Any advice would be much appreciated.

If one's skin gets too hot, one can get a heat rash. This happens in areas that are clothed though, not exposed.

Well what could it be then? I was wearing a low-ish top and it's definitely only on the skin which was exposed.

Briliant, is that an antihistamine?

piriton? yes it contains chlorpheniramine
Well that's more likely sunburn. Heat-rash is a very specific term to the effect of wearing clothing which blocks sweat ducts and leads to a rash. However my post was deleted. Just because it also had the other point.
piriton is rather mild...

i sued to get something similar whenever i was messing around in hay. [don't ask ]

I had something that sounds similar last year. While I was outside making the most of the hot weather, I came in the house and realised my legs were bright red, itchy and spotty. I was convinced it was a rash, it was sunburn though. If you have been outside without protection, it's possible that you are burnt rather than having a heat rash.

I would stick to the calamine lotion, it works great on heat rashes and sunburn. Try to keep the area uncovered because the rubbing of clothes could make it more uncomfortable for you. If you really want to, nip down to your local chemist and see what they say but it sounds as if you are taking good care of it, no matter what it is. Though, i'm slightly convinced it's sunburn :p: Just incase, put on some lotion next time you are out in the sun and keep putting it on regularly!

Even if it's bumpy? Weird... I've never had bumpy sunburn before :p:
