Hi there

Just wondering if anyone else has applied to do PGCE Secondary/Primary at Newman University?

I have applied for Secondary Computer Science.
Got interview on the first week of Jan and they said that I will be expected to do a micro teach lesson (found on information pack on the website) but I haven't been given a topic. Should I contact them?

I would really appreciate your help
Thanks

There HAS to be a better option than Newman. Its a tiny college with no reputation for anything.

Not entirely true. They have a good reputation with teacher training.

From the training I have received I would 100% recommend this university. My interview consisted of a 20 minute lesson, they won't expect you to be perfect but they will look for some things including subject knowledge and enthusiasm for the subject.

Don't try to achieve too much in the short space of time.

Make sure you have creative activities not just worksheets

Good subject knowledge

Confidence (even though you'll be nervous!

Enthusiasm

Good luck!

HI, Just to give you some facts about Newman and its reputation in teaching.

Newman is in the top 5 Midlands universities for teaching!!

Newman is the 2nd best university in Birmingham for teaching!

Newman also gained its University status in 2013 thus no longer being a University College.

Teaching at Newman is not just about stuffing students with information but developing the whole person.
