hello!

I am soon graduating with BEng for a low uni. Which engineer sector has the best profits?

Is petroleum engineering still the first? What's close or second?

Also, is petroleum engineering easy to get into? Do they dismiss people when oil prices go down? Will green energy technologies make soon petroleum engineering redundant?

thanks!

Hi studos

Engineering is one of those disciplines where the sectors have peaks and troughs. Such as is the situation with the petroleum and oil & gas sectors that you mention.

Working as a consultancy business, Atkins works across a wide variety of engineering sectors, we find that this best allows us to grow our business and adapt to the changing world around us.

So my advice is not to just pick a sector based on the profits of today but to pick something that interests you and challenges you. If you enjoy what you do, you will get the most from your career.

Good luck with your studies!
