Okay so I'm looking to get a good revision guide for A-level Computer Science. The course i'm doing is AQA. I need one that covers the NEW specification. The book I have from the library includes unnecessary stuff from the old spec.

The one i've found so far is this one

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1...A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

Its pretty expensive, but it looks good and its for both AS and A2 so it should last both years.

Any opinions? Does anyone whos done/doing Comp Sci have any other revision guides they've found useful and would recommend?

Thanks

@Edit: I forgot to mention, I'm in year 12 so at the moment i'm doing AS Computer Science, not A2. But I know I will carry on CompSci to year 13 so if the book contains A2 content thats not a problem.

That's the only resource I'd recommend, it's sufficient and good.

I'm doing the same course as you, and this is the one i'm using:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/191052302X/

The only negative aspects are that the information is quite condensed so making your own notes from this book is pretty much a must. Also the questions that are in the book don't have any accessible answers... To get the answers you have to be a teacher and must purchase a joblot of the books which is quite annoying.

Not sure the reviews are pretty so so. I honestly feel the wikibooks is the best and only resource you need.

If I were going to spend money on books and I were in Yr 12, then I'd not go for Reeves. There are too many errors - we've had the book since it came out and are still finding more errors. The Heathcote book is good for the majority of students, but if you are aiming for the top grades, then there is nothing to beat the Bond text books U1 & U2. They are expensive, but a really good investment. All my students get their own copy of Heathcote, but I have a class set of Bond (U1 & U2) for use in lessons and constantly refer to it. My best students have bought their own to use at home. Go for the full A Level books, rather than the AS. http://www.educational-computing.co.uk/books.html or from Amazon (if you can bear to buy from a company that treats its employees so badly) at: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Level-Compu.../dp/0992753619.
