I have no clue what will come up, but I'm pretty sure that this is by far the hardest organised gap year programme there is. I also spoke to someone involved in organising Target 2.0. edit:actually I can't remember what their words were but I was told that succesful candidates were very knowledgeable.

I actually know one of the people doing this right now (his profile is up on the BoE website  ) and what you've said is quite untrue. Academically he is nothing special.....he's knowledge in finance/econ is rather limited and he got an E in Further Maths :tsr2:

Bastardo! I've got the test day thing tomorow actually - though aside from the actual paper tests like in the example they sent me, I've not got much of an idea what'll be going down..

I too have heard that it is the most difficult gap year program to procure a place on, and having been rejected by Delloitte a long time back makes me a little anxious by some of the things said above! I'm currently jumping when PwC say jump and am still waiting to hear back after my partner interview, but if it's possible toget into the Bank with a limited knowlege then that's just great news for me!! Though I'm sure competition would be fierce..

Well I guess we'll find out soon enough huh?

The Bank of England year long placement is great. One of my pals worked in the Treasury department - I think it was along Birdcage walk - at St James. He said the atmosphere was very very relaxed - he worked great hours, socialized plenty and had an amazing year.

If you guys are set up for this in 2008 I think you will thoroughly enjoy!

the gap year program doesnt close until 23rd march so you wont hear anything back till probably early april? When did you apply?

Do they make all the decisions after 23rd..or give out offers on a come as u apply basis??

oh, that's a relief! i applied to that months ago and was wondering what had happened...

Just a q as I've had some offers already and have agreed to one (but I'm reluctant for a variety of reasons), suppose I were successful with the BoE, could I accept or am I obligated to go with the placement I've already agreed with.. I've accept the offer via email and verbally but as yet, no contracts have been signed.

(oops, just realised i'm hijacking this thread...... sorry!)
what where your grades at GCSE and predicted a-levels mate?

want to know whether i stand a chance with the big4 (as i presume your other offers where from them)

reminds me i gotta apply tonight!!...or some time before sunday lol!..

erm....i think ud be ok goin for bank of england but it defo wouldnt look good......espesh if u might be takin a job with that firm after 3 years.....

hence why i didnt apply to deloitte, as all the available offices were too far away and if i did get it but wasnt able to find accomodation in leeds or newcastle or wherever and didnt wanna go in the end it really wouldnt look good..

i got 9A*s, 3As at GCSE, 5As at AS level (all traditional subjects) and am predicted 5As at A2, but tbh, the grades just mean you're practically guaranteed an interview.

Your interview performance is a whole other thing altogether. I had no interview experience so at the beginning, i always flopped at the final hurdle whilst others with more medium-standard grades got through.

lol, i prefer them baked myself.

well, although i've had offers from small firms (where i feel good grades matter more), i haven't managed to get myself an offer at a BB or one of the Big 4 so i dont think i'm the best person to ask.

Like I said earlier, I always get to the final round.. but even good interviews don't seem to get results! I had a great Deutsche interview but was given the rejection call this afternoon.. *sighs*

Damn, can't believe I've only heard about this now.
It's something I'd actually consider doing, but I went on the website and got all excited then saw that the deadline was two days ago. :frown:
so has any1 heard anything since the deadline?
yes mate interviews had already started last week (and i think they last til the end of week as last year it was a 2-3 week period)

both ways you should have received some news on an interview date (check your spam folder btw as my interview details where in that lol)

good luck
i havent got anything, do they tell you if u're unsuccessful?

did u apply last year? how was it?
