Just won 1 million in the lottery!! What do i do???

I don't even know how to begin. But like the title says I've just won 1 million in the euromillions and dont know what to do. I have yet to tell any close relatives of my winnings. Just to be clear I'm 22 and male, I really want to keep this anonymous and would rather tell very few people who know me.

Can anyone suggest where I should begin spending the money or should I carefully invest?

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

It's up to you, but once it's gone it's gone. Perhaps split it - put some away, spend some, give some to charity, give some to relatives, etc.

Buy more lottery tickets to give yourself a good chance of winning a bigger prize - £1m is not enough

lol keep it in your savings and pretend nothing happened. Move on with your life.

Or if your family is having rough times then tell them and support them with some of the money but mostly keep the rest in savings

Appreciate all the advice coming through. The only problem is whilst I really wanna spend the money by getting a decent car and so on. If I told my parents they'll tell me to divide the money and give to the family, whilst some will be used to pay off the mortgage on the house :frown: .

And, whilst i've contemplated the thought of running away, thats not an option.

Buy a house.

Then keep the rest locked away until you need it.

Done

Spend it however you please, really. It might be a wise move to invest some of it, perhaps in real estate. If I were you, I wouldn't tell anybody at all and just get on with my (unbeknownst to others, much easier) life. Congratulations on your win (unless you're trolling...).

You make that cash last son. A good Scotsman never wastes a penny. Still you can treat yerself to a pint of Tennents and a wee kebab aye?

It's your money. They can't make you spend it on anything that you don't want to spend it on. Just keep your bank details to yourself and you'll be fine.

I would buy two London properties with ~£800k, one for myself and one to rent/as an investment, perhaps buy a few £10k of shares and keep the rest for savings.

While it's your money and the decision to spend it is yours alone, I think it would be a lovely idea for you to give some away to good causes :h:

Honestly, I wouldn't tell them. I would just put it in the bank and use it when you need it just like it would be money you earned. Don't spend all of it at once because it will go in no time on nothing. Yeah you can buy a car.

Hmm, didn't think of that. Where in London would you suggest?
