Did marathon, being sick!

Hey, finished the marathon yesterday, which was brillaint. Trouble is, im now throwing up everytime I try and take on food. I went all night without being sick (just drank two pints of water overnight and some electrolyte solution...

but WHY cant I eat? I had a banana an hour ago, and it feels like the same might happen again... but I NEED to take on food sometime. Any suggestions as to why im being sick, and how I can get back to eating again?

Allergic to excercise?

I have that problem...
Hi Robbie...

In preperation for the marathon, were you given advice on which foods to eat before and after the race? I would suggest maybe looking at a website which perhaps was created for marathon users, a forum type of thing which may have advice.

As it is something I haven't done, I couldn't really comment any fruther. At least try and get some food into your system, maybe start with liquid such as soup, but if you are still feeling unwell it may be advisable to contact your GP or phone NHS24 for advice.

Hope you feel better soon.

First of all, CONGRATULATIONS!

But to the point. I would suggest you go to the doctor. Or a nurse is fine as well. It's best if they check you so it wont get any worse.

Do you have any of that electrolyte-stuff still? Drink a cup of that if you've been sick. Try not to force yourself drink too much water at once though, that might be the reason that makes you ill. Eat little amounts and drink little amounts, as often as possible.

if i were you id try and get some lucizade down your neck and start on some very bland foods first.

Did you stay well hydrated? If not you might be suffering dehydration.

Alternatively, your body may simply be exhausted. Did you train enough for it?

I suggest you seek both alternative advice and possibly see your GP.
well done

Oh, did i say i'm currently eating some chocolate cake?
Ooh congratulations!

When I'm sickly I usually reach for the old power-glucose type drinks to tide me over.

I'm sure you'll be fine soon

I'd personally try lucozade and rolo cookies. Maybe lucozade tablets if you can't take the rolo cookies.

My cousin had this. He threw up when trying to drink. Make an effort to rehydrate and then hopefully your body should settle down. Actually, better idea: ring NHS direct for adivce. They're really helpful and really very good and should be able to help you.

Congratulations and hope you feel better soon :hugs:

Are you at least peeing ok? is your tummy rumbling away but you just chunder it back up again?

THink its some pretty sound advice given already - drink electrolytey stuff like lucazade. bananas have some great electrolytes in so thats always a bonus. perhaps some flat coke as well. then try eating something a bit mroe stodgey as well, to line the stomach as it were.

Massive congrats on the accomplishment. I went along to help near tower bridge, and it was sooo hot.
