holdup issues

so I'm sat in the 6th form common room today and one of my freinds points out that one of my hold ups has slipped down and you can see the top of it - so embarassed I could have died!

Question is does anyone else have this problem with holdups - or do I have freakly thin or shiny legs or something?

Any ideas for a more successful wearing experience? Any better recommended makes?

buy a smaller size? don't moisturise right before putting them on.

it's really not that embarassing, it's not like your thong fell down or something. I was walking down the stairs at work at my holdup had fallen literally all the way down, i didn't even notice, one of the partners had to point it out to me, and i'm sure a 50 something year old tax partner is a lot more flustered by a young girl's stocking than a 6th former :p:

okay - that may be more embarassing I agree - but it was still embarassing as we have uniform as well so its not like its just with normal clothes.

I am quite tall with long legs so next size down is too short. Perhaps its is just a mishap that happens wearing holdups.

yep, sometimes they jsut slip, especially if they're oldish, or you've got moistureriser of talcum powder on your legs. don't worry about it, it's not the end of the world!

Get suspenders and don't buy hold-ups? Unless your school skirt is tight, that should work. And they're cheaper :p:

i've heard that if you spray the top of them with hairspray (after you put them on) it helps keep them up. but i don't wear them, so can't comment on wheather or not it works!

Why not wear tights?

Our skirt is box pleated so they don't show. I tried suspenders and stockings this week and they seemed okay. Bit of a faf to hook up but at least they stayed up.

Again I ask, why not tights?

I don't like tights... Not with clothes anyway. Gussets are not my thing. I expect a lot of girls feel like that.

Though there are probably some who just want to look sexy, though I'm not suggesting the op is one. All the girls who were like that when I was at school wore black over-the-knee socks. Slutty schoolgirl look or something. I don't know

I don't really like tights much so I thought I'd give holdups a try. We have to wear dark tights with our uniform in 6th form so just an alternative really.

You are right, I don't like tights much so I was just trying alternatives. Its very definately not to achieve the slutty school girl look, thats for sure. In fact far from it as our uniform in 6th form has to be worn smartly. Its also quite plain as we have navy blazer, blue blouse, navy tie, navy box pleated skirt, dark tights, navy v neck jumper.

Argh, the hold-up humiliation! I was walking round a city once desperately trying to grab them up from my ankles! Humiliating! I need to try stockings and suspenders, they just seem so seedy somehow  Tights are mega uncomfy with the whole gusset falling down malarkey and the tightness around the waist, but you should try the Primark ones! They're amazing!

Pop socks are comfier and good if your skirt's longer than knee-length but big problemo if there's a gust of wind because everyone can see them and you look like a crazed old granny!
