Yes - any pregnancy test will work from the day your period is due. You don't need to buy a really expensive one.
Having said that, like sparkle said, you might want to give it another day or two just in case you're late. No point wasting money unnecessarily.
There are a few other signs to look out for yes, but by no means do they have to be present for you to be pregnant:
tender breasts
feeling of needing to pee more than usual
feeling more tired than usual
nausea
feeling faint
constipation
If you don't have any of these though you still might be pregnant.
There are also a few others that are a bit of a "false friend" if you like, because they are common for both the early stages of pregnancy, AND when you have your period:
bloating
cramping
spotting (blood)
low back pain
Both times when I've found out I was pregnant, I thought for sure my period was on its way, because I was cramping for several days. It felt just like the onset of my period, except that no bleeding happened.
I never had any of the other symptoms though - at least not in the very beginning.
I take it from the unhappy smiley that pregnancy is not something you're hoping for. I wish you luck that you're not pregnant. Don't worry too much though - being a few days late is not an uncommon thing at all.
