Oh, sorry
i've tried doing 1:200 into a fraction and cross multiplying 1/345, but i have no idea what to do! It was in an exam and i blanked out on this question and wanted to know how to work it out.

Yes, it is a ratio, 1 to 200. But what does that 1 represent? For every 1 ... you have 200... ? What's in the blanks?

So when you have 345 of the...

1cm represents 200 meters!
for every 1 cm you have 200 meters.

1cm represents 200 meters!
for every 1 cm you have 200 meters.
I can see why you'd think it was that, but that would be 1:20000.

I get it now, 345/200 metres which is 1.725 metres then convert to cm 172.5
