for motorway riding, i do suggest you stay clear of 125s. the never reach a power out put of 33bhp unless you look at apprilia RS125's but i personally would advice against it.

bikes that usually are naturall 33bhp are 250cc motorcycles but these are beccoming a rareity these days.

what i suggest for a begginner bike is a Honda bros400. they are always 33bhp, and you will be able to ride one of them for 2 years no problem.

the beauty with the 33bhp rule is that you can buy any bike and restrict them to 33bhp. the bike i got now is a SUZUKI GSX600F, unresticted it's power output is about 88bhp, but i had to have it resticted to 33bhp and it's lovley

so you have plenty of options. like i say i recommend you stick, for now to restricted 400's

If you have a bit to spend an Suzuki SV650s is quite a nice starting bike (about 1300-1.5k fr ta tidy 2000 curvy)

The Insurances isn't too bad either.

OK I am confused about cc/bhp. Surely I can't drive that suzuki because it's 645cc and I am limited to 125?

you're limited to 125 before you pass your test. you a limited to 33bhp after you pass your test

at the moment you have not passed your test, so you are limited to 125 motorbikes, which have a power output of about 15bhp. after you pass your test you are allowed to ride any size engined motorcycle, as long as it is restricted to 33bhp.

lol u can get like hyabusa and restrict to 33bhp lol

So, after I pass the test I can buy ANY bike and ANY bike can be restricted to 33bhp? How much does it cost to get it restricted?
Reply 14
Depends, it can cost about £130 i think, that including labour, but the restrictor only costs about £30(included in main cost) Thats for a VFR400 anyway.
Genrally restrictor kits are £120- £130 depending on bike, but you dont want to go for a really big biketo start with... rememeber if you go over you need to be able to pick it up again..

Upto a 400cc bike is probably all you can need, as that does motrbikes and can be used for pottering about... bigger engines are not as good going through traffic in town.. also a bit of a waste if your not going to use the full potencial..

What about this: http://www.suzuki-gb.co.uk/bikes/detail.php?ref=burgman400&y=k7

What speed could I get up to on that? Or is it too big?

Do I need gears? My friend who has done the test says it is easier to do automatic.
