Hi everyone I've come across a question recently that I couldn't figure out. The question was which type of interaction is responsible for the following decay:
pi+ meson plus a proton > Kaon+ plus unknown particle X
The answer was the strong nuclear force is responsible. I was wondering why it is the strong force which is responsible and not the weak force?
I know the strong force is responsible for interactions between quarks hadrons etc, but for a proton changing into a neutron or vice versa the weak force is responsible?
