Mum wants me to stay for weekends

I'm in yr 13 - I got a BBB offer from Southampton because I'm from a low income family - chances are im gonna go there.

I live in south London. its 2h30m away and coasts £25-35 each way - a season ticket would cost £3600. my mum suggested that I should stay home at the weekends if I go to Southampton.

Shes a strong catholic. She asked me if there's a reason why I wouldn't want to stay home at the weekends. I told her I would have no social life. she thinks I be at some strangers house doing ecstasy and being taken advantage of.

i dont think i could live like that - help me find more good excuses.

Best thing to do is to move to Uni and say you'll consider coming home but you want o settle in first. Then you can maybe visit after a few weeks. No point in discussing it too much now. Once you get there youll probably find your own excuses but like the above poster said, there is usually plenty of stuff going on at uni at the weekend, and in my experience, most of it is actually pretty practical stuff like sports and other clubs and general socialising rather than crazy nights on town (these tend to be on weeknights).

well tell her that you will need to be down for things like libuary study groups and i don't know how religious you are but say you want to integrate into the community down there if she asks what that means tell her you plan to join a local flock also mention almost every uni has a catholic society you can join if you want.

Also, whilst I wouldn't recommend mentioning this, if you are the sort of girl that wants to go on a drugs bender and get taken advantage of, you wont be waiting till the weekend to do it :P.
There are lots of other reasons, access to studying, sports clubs and other societies, getting some rest. It's also not a good idea to keep going home as you'll struggle to make friends as people are busy during the week and it will make you more homesick.
Definitely not a good idea.

If she's going to use money, ask her to use the money to transfer to your account when money is tight.
