Sorry you've not had any responses about this. Are you sure you’ve posted in the right place? Posting in the specific Study Help forum should help get responses.

I'm going to quote in Tank Girl now so she can move your thread to the right place if it's needed. :yy:

Hey,
The New Right and Right Realism are NOT the same, they are 2 different perspectives. For the New Right they are like Functionalists (NOT THE SAME) but they share similar ideas. The Right realists are extreme of the functionalist view. Check the links below for more details:

http://www.slideshare.net/RSJones/7-c-and-d-realist

If you tell me what topics you are doing I can try to provide some examples for you.

I would say that they are very much linked. I don't think there is anything wrong with thinking of Right Realism as New Right applied to crime. They both come from the same place, in that they are inspired by right-wing political thought; personal responsibility, small state and seeing behaviour as driven by rational choice (e.g. the New Right subscribe to an neoliberal view of economics that sees the economy as best driven by private individuals responding to the demands of society in ways that benefit them in terms of profits).

New Right is to do with the family/ education with their policies against welfare and such e.g. Charles Murray. Right Realism is to do with crime, again Charles Murray comes up with his views on perverse incentive and dependency on welfare, so they are similar but I would make sure to refer to them as the right one in the essays you write to make sure
