The Student Room Group
You'd be best posting this on the actual Edinburgh forum, this one is for all of the universities in Edinburgh.

As far as I know, Edinburgh offers a very good and reputable IR programme. Its combined with Politics.

I am considering applying to the University of Edinburgh for the MA in International Relations. How good is the International Relations program over there? How does it compare to others in the UK?

Check out the postgraduate forum - there are lots of threads about IR.
Most post grad IR students seem to be at LSE or St Andrew's. YOu may get more helpful info there.
Our degrees are MA's though, I assumed the OP was talking about an undergraduate course, but I could be wrong.

Is it a post grad or an under grad course you're interested in?
At the ancient Scottish universities, an MA in IR is and undergrad. The postgrad is an MSc.

im doing IR...basically, you take the same modules as the politics people do during the first 2 years and then start specializing...check out www.drps.ed.ac.uk and find IR for more details about the modules you can take in your 3rd&4th year...

And what about the quality of the course? Is it challenging or gives you a lot of free time? How many hours of lectures/classes you have per week?

the quality of the course is very good, however, the amount of time you are going to spend on preparation totally depends on yourself/your knowledge of the world of politics...

So, all in all, can you say that you're happy with your choice to study IR in the University of Edinburgh?
