How to get rid of nausea

First time posting on this board...but it's kind of urgent and no-one in uni will be awake yet.

How do you stop feeling sick? I have my driving test today and I woke up feeling really, really sick...I don't know whether it is nerves or whether I actually have a bug.

I cancelled my first driving test because I woke up and threw up loads. There is no way I would consider cancelling this one. So basically, is there any quick relief from nausea? I'll want to eat something before I go but the thought of food makes me feel ill. Any tips?

You need to get yourself some ginger. Cut it up into little bits. Put it in the bottom of a mug. Pour boiling water over it.

Inhale the vapours first.

When it's cooled down a bit, you may like to drink a bit.

Works for me.

I know exactly how you feel, I had the same thing not long ago, this is the thread I posted, theres some useful stuff in there:

Ginger in any form is supposed to work, ginger biscuits, ginger ale etc.
Driving instructors here recommend Bachs rescue remedy before a driving test. Just put a couple of drops on your tongue before the test. Can get it at Boots and some other chemists.
Good luck!

Try sucking some sweets or eating some mints - mint calms the stomach. Just breathe, sit still for 30mins and you'll be fine. Good Luck

Thanks everyone...I have some ginger beer in my fridge but really don't think I could stomach that. I've got some water and some mints and am gradually feeling better...I had a lie-down in bed for about an hour too. I'm getting to that stage where I feel really hungry but still don't want anything...I might attempt some fruit before I go otherwise I won't have eaten anything until dinner and I can't see that doing me any good!

Fruit is probably a bad idea, it's too acidic...try eating dry toast or a couple of digestive biscuits. Eat them whilst in bed, then have a lie down for 20 minutes or so. I've heard that sprite and lemonade helps get rid of nausea too.

Good point...but I didn't see this post before I ate my banana. I feel ok though...am trying to eat some cereal too, as one banana won't be enough to keep me going until 4pm (I have a long lesson before the actual test). Thanks

lol i was going to agree with angel cake, i have had some tummy issues and they allways tell me to drink very watered down fruit juice or squash (to get sugers back into me) and try dry food like toast and to avoid milk (because its gross to throw up) and fruit (because its more likely to make you throw up). not sure thats really helpful tho because its more post sickness stomach recovery than something to stop you feeling sick in the 1st place.

tbh im ignoring all my own advice and going for a smoothie and pork pie. its not like i have anything else in the house anyway.

Cyclizine!

Haha, one of the anaesthetists at the hospital spoke to me at great length (about ten minutes) on the wonders of cyclizine. The poor old biddy on the bed waiting to be put to sleep thought she was talking to him and kept nodding and saying "really doctor? well well"
