The Student Room Group
Post this on the actual Glasgow forum, you might get a better response there, as whilst we're all in exams people check other parts of the boards less often. Unless you're procrastinating, like me!

Thanks to admin for moving this post! Now who can I rep for that good deed? And...who can help with my original query?
I stayed in Kelvinhaugh street and it was ok. 5 per flat. lots of international people, not realy to social due to flat doors being locked. Clean, pretty modern, no problems. Nice (for student halls) kitchen with sitting room area. Free laundry downstares, secure bike lock and free car parking (be warned if you move your car and try to park between 7am and 5pm, you wont get in due to local workers parking).

Be warned behind the flats is a helicopter pad for coastguard and police, and that goes off at all hours, and down the road is a firestation, and when that goes at 3am, you know about it.

Overall, my experience in KS was good.

As for kelvinhaugh street, had a couple of friends down there. Exactly the same set up but with an ensuite (which in my eyes isnt worth it). plus an extra whole 2 mins walk to the uni, but a wee bit closer to Yorkhill hospital (if you go up the back past cooperage place and the nursary).

by the way. Med gen is a really intensive course and pretty hard. my house mate worked constantly and passed with 68%,but is still just a pass grade as there is only pass and distinction. If you are gonna work make sure you get the 70% or if not enjoy glasgow, scrape the 51% and have a good time.

P.S. Join the postgrad club. what a wonderful little bar.

Hey, thanks for the information! I've applied for Kelvinhaugh Gate as my first choice, then QM, then lister, then kelvinhaugh st. Failing that, it'll be cooperage or a flat with my cousin and another guy.

I can imagine Med Gen being a hard course but in a way that's kinda why I wanna do it...I've been lazing about since finishing my dissertation, and now need some sort of motivation. Plus the course does look awesome, and the guthrie institute is one of the best of its kind in the UK  I dunno whether I wanna work like a beast or not though, I havent decided.

Postgrad club?? I didnt realise Glasgow had such a thing.

Oh yeah its a club next to QMU. It has a huge selection of malt whisky and real ales, and no undergrads in there.

You get your own key to the place, its amazing. I used to spend far too much time in there.
