find x? 2log(base 4) x - log(base 4) (x+24) = 1?

I know you have to write the LHS as a single logarithm first, but i'm not sure how

Sorry you've not had any responses about this. Are you sure you’ve posted in the right place? Posting in the specific Study Help forum should help get responses.

use the subtraction law which states that,
log(A) - log(B) = log(A/B)
and the power law which states that
klog(A) = log(A^k)

so
working in base 4...

2log(x) - log(x+24) = 1
therefore
log(x^2) - log(x+24) = 1
therefore
log[x^2/(x+24)] = 1

therefore
log[x^2 / (x+24)] = log(4)

x^2/(x+24) = 4

then solve
