Dubai airport- Transit and Security

So am going away on holiday for first time in 3 years and would like to know how long does security take at dubai airport as soon as you land then go through secruity as i have 2hrs and 30mins in transit before the next connecting flight so i land around 4:50am and next flight is around 7:50am so will i be able to catch the connecting flight if take in amount of time it takes to get through security and such
If you aren't exiting the airport in Dubai you don't go through security etc. You just stay in transit at the airport. 2h 30min is plenty.
Security is pretty quick. 2.5hrs is enough time.

Like the other member said above you shouldn't need to pass through security if you do not leave the airport [pretty sure going from terminal to terminal does not count either]. 2.5 hours is plenty of time for anyone at an airport.

However if you think you are running short on time, just speak to someone at a desk and tell them you don't think you will make your connecting flight; they should be able to fast-track you through security [if you have to go through it], or help you out.

thanks but at dubai as soon u enter the terminal building before entering the transit area u have to go through security or customs as they have a security area for everyone coming off board the plane and just before u enter the transit area so wondering how long it takes if a long que forms

Dubai manages so many connecting flights every day, I'm sure they will have a system in place which means catching connecting flights between terminals is easy and hassle-free. Like I said, I don't believer there is an airport in this world which security/customs etc. takes 2h30 even if there are queues. And if you do find yourself tight on time, just ask someone behind a desk and they can usually 'escort' you through to your gate.

EDIT: I know in some places if your onward flight is departing in less than 45 minutes after your arrival, then they can speed you through transfer once you land.

It should say on your ticket what terminal you fly in and out from, if they are different terminals then. You'll not go through customs if you are in transit. You will go through security again, however it shouldn't take too long. If you are worried about the time then ask for an isle seat on the flight to Dubai and near an exit that will be used to get off the plane. That way you can make sure you are one of the first to get off the plane.

With 2.5hrs I'd say it is still enough time to get off the plane, go through security, get to the next terminal (maybe go through security again there not sure) and get to your gate. I'd say the only way you'll miss it is if you do something really stupid like get lost or if the flight is delayed, if the latter then they will put you on a new flight anyway (assuming you booked all flights at once).
