No, but drinking lots of water is always good for the throat so get drinking while waiting for medicine.

Try gargling with some soluble asprin (dissolved in water, obviously lol). It really helps with the pain and inflammation, and it far cheaper than the throat sprays etc.
You're probably going to get a cold. I usually get the sore throat then the running nose and all that jazz.
Steam your face, with your mouth open, to get plenty of moisture to your throat.

You probably have the first symptoms of a cold. The fact your throat was sore could be down to sleeping with your mouth open, which you'd do if your nose was blocked. Try mixing a big tablespoon of honey, a squirt of lemon and half a cup of hot water, let it cool and sip it.

Steam inhalation is good for throat.
