    my physics teacher said that if there's ever a gas leak if your house, you should -not- switch off the lights!!!....hmmm...

    your house is in a fragile state of equilibrium. any sharp movements could affect this and cause equilibrium to shift and ultimately an explosion. technically you should not walk around the house as sparks can occur due to static electricity.

    On the other hand.. If you lit a match you'd clear the house of gas and be able to use the electricity again

    Best thing to do is light a match and walk around the house until you discover the leak..
