MSc Programmes at LSE - Worth the price?

Hello,

I know that this has been mentioned probably in previous topics, however, I cant seem to find it. Is the LSE in Economic History programme worth pursuing? If so, is it or any other LSE programmes except economics worth the cost of attendance? Ive been doing comparisons with US colleges and find that LSE is a much better deal in terms of tuition. I am a foreign student, I have also been provided a place in Northumberland at a reasonable price. Not factoring in living costs, I find that LSE is much better than NYU and other ovepriced private colleges in the united states. Anyone agree/ disagree?
or are there past articles someone can link me to?

Whether or not it is worth it will be different for everybody, I would guess. However, likely anything you take at LSE will be of superb quality, even if it's not related to Economics. Plus, if reputation/prestige and name recognition are important for you in your chosen career path, then LSE has that too.

But it depends on what you want. If it's that much less expensive than the US schools you checked out, then for sure LSE is an even better option if you want to save some dollars (or pounds!).

I had a choice between LSE and KCL, and chose King's because of the programme (much better suited to my needs), and because King's was quite a bit cheaper. But I don't think I am sacrificing quality at all (and prestige is only marginally important to me in my field), and I definitely don't think you would be sacrificing anything either if you choose LSE over the US schools.

Good luck!

thanks a lot! your help is much appreciated
I don't think it's fair to call US schools overpriced. They give you a 2 year masters, so clearly it will cost more. Per year, there's not much a difference between any private US university and LSE.

LSE is worth it for me because all of the UK universities charge me a higher rate. But for British people, LSE is about 4 times the price of a masters at most universities. For them, I'm not so sure.
I was comparing the not-so-great schools. The one year MSc is the way to go.
