I get £5 an hour. It all depends on the kind of bar, and how much they usually expect you to get in tips. Sometimes I make a £15 a night in tips, but depending on the event or night it can be as low as £3.

coo...i hoped it would be around minimum adult wage so thats cool, and then i looked on the internet and discovered..."development wage" for 18-21 and then got confused..

That would be the minimum wage for 18-21 year olds - but what they pay is up to them provided it's above the minimum wage. Below £5 an hour would be a bit mean generally speaking.
My current bar job pays only £4.45 an hour as I am not 21 until the end of the year. Thank God there is only two weeks left until I start my new job.
U can get more working in a supermarket!!!!
You can, but working in a supermarket is the most boring job on earth - frankly, I'd rather work as a barman, which can be a very social, fun job, than be spending my days stuck in a supermarket, dealing with groceries... I guess it boils down to whether you put more stock in enjoying your time, or the money you make.
Personally bar work isnt my cuppa T pure and simply because the money I think is poor! However dependin on nights/events it could be greatly increased!

Good luck wit the new job

I work in a nightclub (on the bar amongst other things), my hours can vary from 7pm-4am or 10/11pm-4am and i only get £4.50 p/h :frown:

Its overrated

If they haven't told you anything about the money, I'd be expecting minimum wage. I'm on minimum now, although I was on 21+ minimum when I was under 21 anyway (Not sure if my boss just thought I was over 21 or was being generous, although he did wish me a Happy 21st Birthday so I'm leaning towards the latter)
